Edinburgh man, 18, arrested over 'gangland firebombings' in huge police crackdown
An 18-year-old Edinburgh man has been arrested on alleged wilful fire-raising charges.
This marks the 50th arrest made during Opration Portaledge which was set up to tackle the scourge of gangland violence across Scotland's central belt.
The male was arrested and charged in connection with incidents of alleged fire-raising at three properties: Pitcairn Grove, Prestonfield Crescent and Niddrie Marischal Crescent in Edinburgh on Thursday April 17.
He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, Friday June 27 2025.
Police were alerted to possible fire damage at a property in Niddrie Marischal Crescent in the city in the early hours of April 17. This was the second time the property had been targeted with shots being fired at the home in March 2025.

On April 17 pictures surfaced showing a property at Prestonfield Crescent which was allegedly torched. Another house was also allegedly set alight at Pitcairn Grove, while a child was understood to be inside.
All three of the alleged firebombing attacks are believed to have happened at homes linked to cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson's crew, as a Dubai-based Mr Big, Ross McGill, continued his war on the rival gang after a stash of cocaine was allegedly stolen.
