Edinburgh police swoop on high street 'incident' as two men arrested
Two Edinburgh males have been arrested and charged after a late-night disturbance on Thursday night.
Around 9.15pm on June 26, cops swooped on Portobello High Street with a number of police vehicles swarming the scene.
Two men, aged 22 and 24, were arrested in connection and are due to appear in court at a later date.
In pictures taken from the scene, five police cars are blocking a junction. Three officers are in discussion by a police van.
One concerned resident said: "Big police presence on Portobello High Street. Police were questioning some men apparently.
"By the looks of the photo, it's literally 30 yards along from the police station on Portobello Road."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.15pm on Thursday, 26 June, 2025, officers were called to a report of a disturbance on Portobello High Street, Edinburgh.
“Two men, aged 22 and 24, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident and are due to appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.”
